Reading period update

Just an update as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday … we’ve starting reading and reviewing artwork and are making progress. Being a new journal, we weren’t sure what to expect as far as volume of submissions or quality, but we’ve been pleasantly surprised. We had intentionally inserted an OPEN date with no CLOSE date in case there was a trickle instead of flood.

However, based on how things are going, we are going to put in a CLOSE date of December 30. This will allow us to publish in the early/mid part of the First Quarter of 2012 and then re-open the reading period for our second issue, in the second quarter.

Please keep the submissions coming, and if you have any questions or problems with the website, be sure to send us an email or post here.

Organic websites

I love buzzwords. Especially ones that help you cover up mistakes or sound better than you really are.

Today, it seems like if you have a website or publication, you can use the word “organic” to say that your website is growing and changing and developing every day. This often makes me think, this is great, the next time I have a typo, I’ll say it is organic. Sometimes, it also makes me hungry, because I do love organically produced foods.

At any rate, keep an eye on our website. We’re getting good feedback and actually are starting to figure out how the site building software works. We’ve made many “organic” changes just in the last week … and we’re heading towards 250 hits already.

Now listed on duotrope.com

Pretty excited this morning. We applied to be listing on a great directory of journal and magazine websites, duotrope.com recently and I found out this morning we are now there. This will definitely help get some attention and hopefully draw some great submissions. If you’re a writer looking a place for your work, this FREE site is fantastic. It lets you track submissions and search by genre, etc.

Traffic flow

Thanks for all the traffic. The website has only been up for 24 hours (actually less at this point) and we’ve already had 100 hits by my last count. We’ve applied for a listing on Duotrope.com, which should also help things along. Let us know what you think about the website – what it needs and what you like … and what you don’t like.
